Read to Self

We are learning to read to self. This builds our reading stamina and helps us to get better at reading. We also have lots of fun reading!

Success Criteria

  • I read quietly
  • I concentrate on the book
  • I stay in space
  • I read the whole time
  • I get started straight away

I really like:

I think I need to practice:

During read to self you get started straight away and you read the whole time. I can see your reading stamina has improved this year and you are getting ready for longer stories and even some chapter books!

We are learning to build our confidence in and around the water. We practise our swimming skills and love to show off our new tricks.

This is what I have been practising:
Safe entry into the pool (1/4 turn entry)

I am really proud of: I am proud of having rocket arms because before I thought It was hard but now I think it is easy.

It is tricky when: It was tricky when I floated on my back because I always go down.

The next thing I want to learn is: To learn how to do rocket arms on my back.

You have been practising your rocket arms during swimming and have great straight strong rocket arms - no spaghetti arms! I love the doggy paddle trick you show me during swimming time. Remember to push your tummy to the sky when you are doing rocket arms or floating on your back, it will help you to 'stay on top'.
